Thank you for your blessings!
Stewardship Message from the Pastor
“ All who believed were together and had all things in common;…Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.” – Acts 2:44-47 NRSVUE
This Pentecost story above, touched by the Holy Spirit, sounds just like our Congers Church! We enjoy “breaking bread together”…we are “glad and generous”…and the “Lord has added to our numbers!”. The Spirit has given us four words to lead us: Faith, Family, Fellowship and Music.
As your Pastor, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to God for your generous prayers, participation, and financial support to the mission and ministry of Congers Church. In 2024, we have been faithfully fulfilling God’s call to Congers Church to be a beacon of shining light and love throughout our community. God has blessed us to grow in mission and membership! Within this past year: we gained 5 new full members; held a very successful Spring Dance, raised $4225 for youth ministries; was present, and donated $724 to our Harlem Ymanna’s Mission for the Unsheltered; sponsored again our exciting Summer Youth Ministry that served 20 children; our new Scholarship Committee awarded 4 young people with financial gifts. These are but a sampling of God’s goodness working through our Church.
As we now approach Thanksgiving, we are asking you to consider your thankfulness to God’s amazing grace in your life by offering your church an estimated amount of giving that you be willing to commit to for our 2025 budget year. We realize none of us can promise the future, but we are asking you to prayerfully consider your commitment to the work of our growing church in 2025. As the cost of living increases each year (est 3% for 2025), we hope you will consider raising your regular offering in the new year. Consider giving a proportionate offering based on your total income, perhaps even a biblical tithe (10% of total income).
Pray about what you will offer know that whatever you plan to give, we will be ever so grateful! Please let us know so we can plan our mission for the new year. We will be collecting and blessing all pledges on Sunday November 24, at the Thanksgiving Worship Service. Thanking you in advance for your generosity and grace!
Bishop Alfred Johnson, Pastor
